Bakelite Terminal Block Strips
Unison Connectors manufactures Bakelite terminal block strips, which have long been used for wire joining in Indian electrical work. Each strip is a row of brass inserts moulded into a rigid phenolic (Bakelite) body. Each insert has two clamping screws, so two conductors can be joined securely without soldering or taping.
Bakelite is a thermoset plastic, so it doesn’t soften when heated. That makes these strips well suited to appliances and panels where nearby components run hot.
Why Choose Bakelite Terminal Strips?
- Heat resistance - The thermoset body keeps its shape at temperatures that would soften ordinary plastics
- Rigid and durable - Screws can be tightened firmly without cracking or distorting the housing
- Good electrical insulation - Phenolic resin has high dielectric strength and low moisture absorption
- Flexible length - Standard 12-way strips can be cut to any number of ways on site
- Cost-effective - Simple, proven construction at an economical price
Construction Details
- Body - Moulded Bakelite (phenolic resin) for heat resistance and insulation
- Inserts - Brass connector tubes for good conductivity and corrosion resistance
- Screws - Plated steel clamping screws, two per way
- Fixing - Moulded mounting holes for screwing the strip to a panel or chassis
